Captured in 1995, this image depicts the grounds of the Kikwit General Hospital, located in Kikwit, in what was the country of Zaire, which has since become the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In this view, in an area of the hospital where treatment of Ebola was taking place, temporary screens had been erected, thereby, limiting access to patient areas, while the tents were being used by staff when they changed into their protective clothing. Such measures were implemented in order to help prevent the spread of the Ebola virus.
