Captured in 1995, this image depicts two Zairian nurses, who were in the process of changing the bedding within the Ebola isolation ward inside Kikwit General Hospital, located in what was known as the country of Zaire, which has since become the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Note the use of what at that time was considered precautionary personal protective equipment (PPE), which shielded these nurses from the highly-pathogenic Ebola virus during treatment.
