This image depicts a volar, or anterior view of a patient’s forearms, wrists, and hands, revealing the presence of a bilateral dermatitis affecting both wrists, which was diagnosed as lichen planus, a skin disorder, the cause of which remains unknown. Suspected etiology includes stress-related factors, autoimmune origins, or possible viral pathogenic influences such as hepatitis C. It is characterized by scaly flattened bumps, which appear erythematous, and usually manifests itself on ones wrists and ankles.
