This image depicts a close anterior view of a male patient’s penis, which revealed the presence of a maculopapular herpetic rash on the penile shaft and corona of the glans penis. When signs of genital herpes do occur, they typically appear as one or more blisters, on or around the genitals or rectum. The blisters break, leaving tender ulcers (sores) that may take two to four weeks to heal the first time they appear.
