This photomicrograph reveals some of the ultrastructural morphology exhibited by the yeast form of a Cryptococcus sp. fungus. The encapsulated Cryptococcus, yeast-like species, are dimorphic fungi, which means that they can alternate between a yeast phase and a hyphal phase, depending on environmental conditions.
