Processed using the fluorescent antibody (FA) staining technique, this photomicrograph revealed the presence of a number of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria, that were discovered in this cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) sample. S. pneumoniae is the pathogen responsible for causing pneumococcal meningitis.
