Caption:
This image depicts a close-up, left oblique view of an Aedes albopictus mosquito, which had landed on the photographer, and was pictured, as she was obtaining her blood meal from her human host. You’re able to see her reddening abdomen, due to its contents of ingested blood. Under successful experimental transmission, A. albopictus has been found to be a vector of West Nile Virus.
