The adult cholera patient depicted here, presented to a clinical setting with what is referred to as, "washer woman's hand" sign. The condition is due to severe dehydration, caused during cholera, which manifests itself in decreased skin turgor, causing wrinkling of the fingers’ overlying skin. Cholera is caused by the pathogen, Vibrio cholerae.
