Foundry workers, some African American, work at a foundry shakeout table. After the parts are cast from molten metal in the foundry furnace, the castings are removed, and the parts are shaken free of metal and casting debris on the grated table. The workers turn and prod at the parts with metal rods so the debris falls through the grate. A ventilation unit to the left of the shakeout table captures fumes and smoke from the operation. The photo is undated.
