Caption:
In this 1998 image, a wheelchair-seated woman was about to drink from a stainless steel water fountain, which had been designed with an overhang, allowing for improved accessibility to the water spout. This showed that consideration had been paid to mobility-challenged individuals. This lady’s knees were able to be tucked up beneath the fountain, allowing her to get closer to the flow of water.
