Under a magnification of 5460X, this 2005 scanning electron microscopic (SEM) image depicted numbers of Segniliparus rotundus bacteria, of the strain ATCC BAA-972T = CIP-108378T. These bacteria stained acid-fast, their cell walls contained mycolic acids, and the bacilli developed consistent rod lengths of 1.0 -1.3 µm x 0.4 µm. When grown on Middlebrook 7H11 agar, these organisms formed smooth, domed colonies.
