Photographed in 1975, during Bangladesh’s Smallpox Eradication Campaign, this photograph depicted one of the Bangladesh Secretaries of Health, Dr. T. Hussein, as he was seated behind his desk during a meeting with members of the smallpox eradication campaign. Integral to the success of the eradication efforts in Bangladesh, was convincing the governmental hierarchy of the need to carry out such a monumental undertaking on a countrywide scale. Initially, the project was met with skepticism, but with the actualization of positive results, was soon adopted by all, as the one and only way to finally rid Bangladesh, and for that matter, the entire world of this dreaded virus.
