Photographed in 1975, during Bangladesh’s Smallpox Eradication Campaign, this photograph depicted a multinational group of Smallpox Eradication Team members, including local Bangladeshi volunteers, one of whom, standing at the far left, a man named Shahabuddin, who was one of the best Smallpox Surveillance Team leaders involved in the smallpox eradication efforts. Also present, was the bearded man standing at the far right, who was a World Health Organization, WHO, Epidemiologist and Team Leader, and the photographer responsible for many of these historic Eradication Campaign pictures, Pierre Claquin, MD, BAC.
