This infant presented with what is referred to as blueberry muffin skin lesions, which was indicative of congenital rubella. These lesions represent sites of extramedullary hematopoiesis, and can be associated with several different congenital viral infections, as well as hematologic diseases. The rash and fever last for 2-3 days. The illness is mild in children and young adults.
