This 1968 photograph depicts a group of local inhabitants receiving smallpox inoculations, was taken in the city of Cotonou, Benin, which was formerly the country of Dahomey, during the worldwide Global Smallpox Eradication Campaign of the late 1960’s, and early 1970s. The vaccinations were being administered using a Ped-O-Jet® jet injector.
