This illustration depicts the morphologic characteristics found to be displayed by Anopleural sucking louse, Polyplax spinulosa, and is representative of Polyplax members, during their third nymphal stage of development. These characteristics are used to help differentiate these organisms from other Anopleural sucking lice. Third stage nymphs display lateral exoskeletal plates in very close proximity to their abdominal spiracles, and 8 to 10 long setae emanating from the distal margin of their abdomen.
