Caption:
This image depicts a close view of a male patient’s genitalia, highlighting the intertriginous region between the left thigh and the scrotum, where several condylomatous lesions had manifested as the result of a secondary syphilitic infection, due to the bacterium, Treponema pallidum. These infectious lesions appeared as gray, or pinkish, raised papules that generally appear in the perianal area, or in any other warm intertriginous region. Because this type of cutaneous lesion is also a symptom manifested by illnesses other than syphilis, including condylomata acuminata, a differential diagnosis must be performed in order to rule out other possibilities.
