This 1981 photograph depicted a vector-control field technician attaching a one gallon plastic container to a spray nozzle in order to catch the insecticidal spray while he calibrates the spray flow. The calibration of the insecticidal flow is based not only on a direct quantitative correlation to the dispersal spray, but geographic characteristics, weather conditions, and type of vector to be controlled. Spray planes are an excellent way in which an insecticidal fog may be dispersed over, and in close proximity to the crops that the insecticide must cover, and with which it must remain in contact in order to kill, or ward off insect or fungal pests.
