Under a magnification of 500X, this hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) stained photomicrograph of lung tissue biopsy specimen, harvested from a patient with Legionnaires' diseases, revealed the presence of an intra-alveolar exudate, consisting of macrophages, and polymorphonuclear (PMN) leukocytes. The Legionella pneumophila bacteria are not stained in this preparation.
