This 1975 photograph depicted a Johannesburg, South African hospital nurse, who was checking the vital signs of an isolated hospital staff member, who had treated patients with Marburg virus infections. Four times per day, nursing staff, and attending resident doctors and interns, were put under surveillance for fevers, and isolated, after Marburg Cases #1 and #2, had traveled through Rhodesia, now known as Zimbabwe, and later showed symptoms of the suspected disease.
