This 1975 photograph depicted three epidemiologic field investigators, who were in the process of setting up a bird trapping net, during a Marburg virus investigation, which took place in Wankie, Rhodesia, now known as Zimbabwe. This team set up several of these trapping nets during this investigation throughout Rhodesia. Several bird species were trapped at this location, and preserved in dry ice, for later virus isolation. However, later analysis showed no signs of the virus.
