This image depicts what was a 3-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of the atomic force images seen in PHIL 6413-6415, revealing the puffy edge of a SARS Coronavirus infected Vero E6 culture cell. Note how the intracellular viruses are visible just under the plasma membrane (arrows). Extruded virus particles are present on other areas of the cell surface (arrowheads).
