This Brazilian patient presented 31-hours after having been bitten on his face by a Loxosceles sp. spider. Spiders are mostly harmless to humans, but two genera, the Latrodectus spp., or black widow spiders, and Loxosceles spp., referred to as the recluse spiders, inflict poisonous, proteolytic and hemolytic venomous bites.
