Caption:
This historic photograph depicted a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) laboratorian, pipetting an unidentified fluid into a culture bottle, all being performed within the confines of a negatively pressurized flow hood. The negative pressure within the hood, draws air into the machine, rather than allowing the contaminated air flowing back out into the laboratory environment. The technician was also wearing the requisite personal protective equipment (PPE), which included a full disposable gown, and blue nitrile gloves.
