This photograph depicts a cockroach egg capsule, or ootheca, and was created during a 1972 study of disease carriers, and pests of migrant labor camps. Cockroach egg capsules contain multiple eggs, each housed in a tiny compartment, the number of eggs within each capsule depends on the species of cockroach.
