This photograph depicts the hands of a laboratory technician, attaching a fresh catalyst packet to the underside of a yellow GasPak™ jar. The packet was encased inside a wire mesh adaptor, which fit snuggly to the lid bottom. Note the two glass beakers labeled “Used Catalyst”, and “New Catalyst”, each containing representative examples from each group. An anaerobic gas generator system is used for the rapid generation of an anaerobic, oxygen free environment, which is necessary when cultivating anaerobic microorganisms.
