This 1976 image depicts an example of a Colorado roadside canal was filled with irrigation run-off water from a nearby crop. The photograph focuses on the potential for the accumulation of water needed for the purposes of crop irrigation. These standing water collections can act as mosquito breeding grounds, and therefore, facilitate the spread of vector borne diseases.
