This 1976 photograph revealed an environmental phenomenon referred to as an oxbow, or a U-shaped bend in a river, which was located at the Colorado Narrows Project. This region was part of an investigation focusing on the minimization of risks of vector-borne diseases in water resource developments. All water treatment plants must meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards.
