Description: Caption:
This photomicrograph reveals ultrastructural details exhibited by a single Dipylidium caninum reproductive proglottid. These D. caninum proglottids, which when mature average 12mm X 3mm, are pumpkin seed-shaped, and are passed with the animal’s feces, and are often resemble rice grains when dried. Each proglottid contains egg packets that contain 8-15 ova, which are held together by an outer embryonic membrane.
