This photomicrograph reveals ultrastructural details exhibited by a single Hymenolepis nana tapeworm ovum. H. nana eggs are oval, or subspherical in shape, and are 40µm-60µm X 30µm-50µm in size, which are smaller than those of H. diminuta. On the inner shell membrane, are two poles, from which 4-8 polar filaments spread out between its inner and outer shell membranes.
