Caption:
This photomicrograph reveals ultrastructural details exhibited by a single gravid, Taenia solium tapeworm proglottid. Injecting India ink into the proglottid’s uterus, allows one to visualize its primary lateral branches, the number of which helps differentiate between the two species, T. solium and T. saginata, which produce 7-13 branches, and 15-20 lateral branches respectively.
