This historic 1966 photograph depicts a portrait of Carl W. Tyler, MD, who served as a Public Health Service (PHS) physician, and a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) administrator. Dr. Tyler joined the CDC as an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer, and after 15-years in epidemiology and human reproduction, became the Director of the Epidemiology Program Office and later became Assistant Director for Academic Programs under the Public Health Practice Programs Office (PHPPO).
