Under a magnification of 240X, this photomicrograph of a hematoxylin-eosin (H&E)-stained small intestine tissue sample, reveals submucosal hemorrhage, which was harvested from a patient who’d succumbed to a fatal case of anthrax, caused by the bacterium, Bacillus anthracis.
