This is a photomicrograph of a hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) stained lung tissue specimen that had been harvested from a caged parrot, with a case of pulmonary aspergillosis, caused by a fungal organism from the Aspergillus flavus/oryzae complex. Note the presence of numerous fungal mycelia, dispersed throughout the tissue.
