This is a photomicrograph of a mouse testicle tissue specimen, which was processed using periodic acid–Schiff (PAS) stain. Note the histopathologic changes indicative of an infection known as talaromycosis, formerly referred to as penicilliosis, caused by the mold, Talaromyces marneffei, formerly known as Penicillium marneffei, including globe-shaped yeast cells undergoing multiplication through fission.
