Description:Note the histopathologic changes seen in blastomycosis due to Blastomyces dermatitidis using methenamine silver stain.
Blastomycosis is primarily a pulmonary infection brought about through the inhalation of B. dermatitidis conidia, producing symptoms that mimic those of bacterial pneumonia, though systemic involvement affecting other organ systems can also occur.
