This photomicrograph reveals some of the ultrastructural details exhibited by the fungal organism, Pseudallescheria boydii, which highlighted a number of smooth walled, unicellular conidia, that were branching singly from the conidiophore in the center of the image. P. boydii is pathogenic in humans, especially those who are immunocompromised, causing infections in almost all body regions, and which are classified under the broad heading of pseudallescheriasis.
