Captured in 1975, this image was part of a slideshow that was used to familiarize public health inspectors with the unsanitary conditions commonly found inside migrant worker camps. This particular photograph highlighted one of this camp’s latrines. The inspector must ask the following questions: Is the privy clean? Is the toilet filled with the appropriate amount of water, and does its lid fit tightly? How far is it from the sleeping quarters? How far is it from the kitchen and dining facilities? How far is it from the well, or from any waterways?
