ID#: 3835
Caption:
This papillomatous lesion of two weeks duration, developed on the left breast of a 30-year-old woman after she had breastfed her 13-month-old infant. The infection was diagnosed as yaws, and began spreading to her back (PHIL 3836), and chin (PHIL 3824). The Venereal Disease Research Laboratory test, or VDRL, produced a positive result of 1:8, and was accompanied by the microhemagglutination assay (MHA-TP) test, which was also reactive, or positive. Treatment for this patient consisted of an intramuscular injection of 2.4 mega units of benzathine benzylpenicillin. For a view of this patient's chin before, and after one week of treatment, see PHIL 3824 and 3839 respectively.
