This patient was demonstrating the effects of crab yaws on the palm of her left hand. See PHIL 3831, for a view of this same patient's left foot showing symptoms of this disease, and PHIL 16933, for view of this right hand, as well. Crab yaws is characterized by hyperkeratosis, with fissuring and ulceration of the soles of the feet, and less commonly, as was the case here, involves the palms of the hands.
