Created in 1974, this photograph depicts what is known as a New Jersey light trap used for trapping mosquitoes when conducting field studies. The purpose of the trap is to attract adult mosquitoes. Proper placement is 5 – 6 feet off the ground, 50 - 100 feet from competing light, between breeding sites and populated areas, close to mosquito fogging areas, and visibility should be a full 360°.
