Caption:
This 1969 photograph depicts a Technicon AutoAnalyzer, used in the laboratory setting to run the automated reagin test (ART) equipment when performing syphilis-screening analyses. The ART is one of the standard laboratory tests used for syphilis screening, and non-specific confirmation of a syphilitic infection. It demonstrates the presence of antibodies common to syphilitic patients.
