This image depicts a laboratory technician, who was in the process of staining a thick blood film with a Giemsa stain solution, inside a parasitology lab. When completely dry, a process, which may take one or more hours, thick films are stained with Giemsa without prior fixation. Giemsa stain is common to parasitology labs in the detection of blood-borne parasitic organisms.
