This 1969 image, depicts a posterior view of an infant’s back, and lower extremities, which had displayed signs of epidermal necrolysis, which had resulted after the baby had received a smallpox vaccination. Epidermal necrolysis is characterized by bullae, and spreading erythema, imparting a scalded appearance to the skin.
