This photograph reveals the presence of a mucosal pustular lesion located on the mucosal surface of this young boy’s hard palate, which had manifested due to a case of chickenpox, an infectious disease caused by the varicella zoster virus (VZV), also known as Human herpesvirus 3 (HHV-3). The boy had presented to New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center.
