This photomicrograph depicts the histopathologic changes associated with a case of rhinosporidiosis of the nose, and reveals the presence of numerous Rhinosporidium seeberi sporangia. Rhinosporidiosis manifests as slow-growing, tumor-like masses, usually involving the nasal mucosa, or ocular conjunctivae of humans and animals. Patients with nasal involvement often have unilateral nasal obstruction or bleeding due to polyp formation.
