This photograph depicts a view of a patient’s scalp, which displayed a region or crusty, erythematous skin, accompanied by hair loss, caused by the dermatophytic fungal organism, Nannizzia gypsea. This condition is a form of ringworm known as tinea capitis, and more specifically, tinea favosa.
