Description:This photomicrograph of a vaginal smear identifies Candida albicans while using a wet mount technique.
Candida albicans lives in numerous parts of the body as normal flora. However, when an imbalance occurs, such as when hormonal balances change, C. albicans can multiply, resulting in a mucosal or skin infection called Candidiasis.
