Caption:
This photograph depicts a lab study involving agar gel reactions of Actinomyces spp. bacteria., strains X-407 and X-573, with homologous antibodies A and B. Actinomyces spp. organisms, normally found in the oral cavity, are opportunistic pathogens, usually seen causing disease only in immunosuppressed patients. Lesions involve long-standing swelling, suppuration and the formation of an abscess or granuloma.
