Caption:
This photomicrograph of a Gram-stained specimen, revealed the presence of Gram-negative, Campylobacter fetus subsp. jejuni bacteria, harvested from discrete colonies which grew on a 72-hour brain-heart infusion (BHI), and 5% rabbit blood, agar plate culture. See PHIL 29246, for another look at a specimen harvested from the same discrete colonies, but after only 48-hour incubation period. Here, after 72-hours incubation, you see the development of coccoid forms.
